Hi all,

New user to PMP and I am wanting to be able to launch a program from PMP as you normally would RDP or Putty.

I have followed the suggestions from forums and Pdf documentation creating windows variables through to entering the following commands to try have it launch but had no success

Tried the following still without success

- %Pronto% -ssh %ACCOUNT_NAME%@%DNS_NAME% -pw %PASSWORD%                         (%Pronto% Microsoft windows variable)

- "C:\Program Files (x86)\PRONTO\PROCLIENT\proclient.exe" -ssh %ACCOUNT_NAME%@%DNS_NAME% -pw %PASSWORD%

- proclient.exe -ssh %ACCOUNT_NAME%@%DNS_NAME% -pw %PASSWORD%

Any support would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Landing servers - agent required?

I am running PMP on a Windows server and I want to use another Windows server as an SSH jump box/landing server to connect to network devices.

In this configuration, how does the PMP server launch the connection on the intermediate server so that it can display the SSH output?     Is the agent required?

I'm reading the documentation for the feature and I don't see anything mentioned.  Is it assumed that the intermediate/launch server must support SSH natively (i.e. runs *nix)?

Client plugin for launching 3rd party application

Hello,

We selected PMP for the possibility to be able to launch other programs and for the password security/reports. We use for example VNC, RDPPlus, and Putty to connect to our machines.

But this does not seem to be possible any-more with Firefox and also Internet Explorer is beginning to show weird behaviour.

The embedded Java engine is not an option for us since it is slow (it lags) and the SSH connection does not allow us to run gvim that we use to edit files on Linux machines. I have read that the option has been removed for Firefox, but it still shows it as an option in the FAQ and to be honest, we need that function and use that function allot. Way more then the embedded slow Java options.

So that brings me to the problem, how can we make it so that Firefox and Internet Explorer can launch our external/locally installed programs again because this functionality is a must have.

Hi,

Thanks for the forum post.
Please navigate to Admin-->General Settings-->Security Settings section and enable "Activate AutoLogon" option. Then you should be able to see the putty option when you click open connection option.

PMP provides two type of Auto Logon helper.
  • Auto Logon Gateway(supports session recording)
  • Auto Logon Helper scripts ( session recording not available but audit event will be stored when any application is invoked)
Auto Logon Gateway allows the users to launch remote terminal sessions from their browser that are tunneled through the PMP server and the remote terminal sessions are emulated in the browser screen itself. Currently, this feature is supported for Windows RDP, SSH and Telnet with privileged session recording.

Auto Logon Helper scripts will be invoked from the browser but the remote terminal session(for example telnet, launch rdp, putty etc) will be launched from the local boxes. Users can launch this helper scripts by clicking on the open connection icon present next to every user account. These session will not be recorded but audit event will be stored as Password retrieved. But the helper scripts will work only in IE. It will not work in other browsers.

So, if the applications(filezilla, secureCRT and sqlplus) can be invoked from the command line along with arguments then the same can be invoked from PMP using Auto Logon Helper scripts. To use Auto Logon  helper scripts, you have specify path along with command line arguments to carry the username and password. You can refer the topic "Auto Logon Helper Scripts" in this link for more information.

For example putty is used to launch SSH or Telnet. Then you can follow these steps to invoke putty from PMP,  the command line used is For Example to launch the putty session the command line used is "putty.exe -ssh %ACCOUNT_NAME%@%DNS_NAME% -pw %PASSWORD%". . You can add a custom helper with the name SQLplus and supply this command in "Command to invoke in Windows" to launch SQLplus from PMP.

Similarly,  The command line used for securecrt is securecrt.exe <host> /L %ACCOUNT_NAME% /PASSWORD %PASSWORD%. You can add a custom helper with the name secureCRT and supply this command in "Command to invoke in Windows" to launch secureCRT from PMP.

Hope this clarifies your question. Feel free to write us if you have any other questions.

Thanks & Regards,
Chris

Re : Report passwords not used recently

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the forum post.
Unfortunately, we don't have an report which shows the password that are not accessed for past two years. We will add this request to our road-map. We will analyse the feasibility and provide this report in one of our upcoming releases.

At present, we have an report which show the passwords which are not accessed in last 30 days. Please navigate to Home Tab -> Password Dashboard and you will find a report "passwords have not been used in last 30 days". However the number of days cannot be modified here. We will analyse the feasibility and provide an option to specify a custom date in this report.

Feel free to write to us if you have any other questions.

Thanks & Regards,
Chris

Hi Darren,

Thanks for the forum post.

So, if the applications(filezilla, vmware vsphere client and sqlplus) can be invoked from the command line along with arguments then the same can be invoked from PMP using Auto Logon Helper scripts. To use Auto Logon  helper scripts, you have specify path along with command line arguments to carry the username and password. You can refer the topic "Auto Logon Helper Scripts" in this link for more information.

For example putty is used to launch SSH or Telnet. Then you can follow these steps to invoke putty from PMP,  the command line used is For Example to launch the putty session the command line used is "putty.exe -ssh %ACCOUNT_NAME%@%DNS_NAME% -pw %PASSWORD%". . You can add a custom helper with the name proclient and supply this command in "Command to invoke in Windows" to launch proclient from PMP.

Similar to putty if you have an option for proclient which can be launched from command line with argument then the same can be added to PMP using Auto Logon helper scripts. Also, the command line for proclient might vary and may not be similar as putty. So, we request you check for the exact command line and pass it.

Feel free to write us if you have any other questions.

Thanks & Regards,
Chris

Use WindowsDomain account for Cisco or other SSH login

We use RADIUS to secure our Cisco devices.   The RADIUS users are in AD.

As long as RADIUS is running, the local admin user in Cisco IOS cannot be used via SSH.

PMP won't let me link a WindowsDomain account to an IOS device (though it will allow this for a Windows server).

This means I cannot connect to the Cisco device.

Is there an option to allow this cross-type linking (the same way a WindowsDomain password can be used for a Windows server or a SQL Server instance)?

Apparently the landing server needs to use the same protocol, so I'll need an SSH daemon on the Windows box.

Website of the secondary server reloads again and again

Hello there,
I just updated our primary pmp server to 7600. After the update I set up a new HA secondary server.
The database HA works good, but as soon as the primary is down and I want to access the website of the secondary server I get a problem.
The login page is displayed normaly but right after the successful login the sides loads again and again.
After a minute the browser crashes. This happens with all browsers I testet (FireFox, Chrome, IE 11).
I already deleted all cookies and restarted both services.
I can not find any good reasons in a log file...

Did someone got that problem too?

Use domain account to logon within Auto Logon and LaunchRDP

I have a question. We have some domain accounts by using Auto Logon Gateway and put domain accounts in a resource group call as "AD"
Now we want to use same domain account with a computer resource by using LaunchRDP, but that only can use in My Passwords and must add that domain account to this resource. If "AD" resource group change password automatically, the domain account added in resource doesn't know new password.
Is it any method to sync domain account password in any recourse if they use same domain accounts?

Thank you.

We have Password Manager Pro 6.7 and want to go to 7.6.  Our data is on MS SQL.  Would it be better to upgrade slowly to 7.6 or just install 7.6 on a new server and re-connect the database there?

Boss wants upgrade, I want to install on new server.  Which is a better route?

Thank you!

Hi Hugh,

Thanks for the forum post
PMP supports only Landing server or Jump server configuration for SSH or Telnet support servers or devices. So, if you want to SSH to a windows server then you should have a SSH daemon running on the windows servers. Using which you should be able to SSH from the PMP server. This way you can have the windows server which has SSH daemon configured, act as a jump server for the SSH or Telnet functionality.

Feel free to write to us if you have any other questions.

Hi Hugh,

Thanks for the forum post.
At preset, using Password Manager Pro you will able to manage and login only using the local accounts which are present in the device.  PMP is configured to manage  the password of CISCO device using the enable account as an privilege account. We are yet to support to Domain based or Radius authentication for CISCO devices. We will add this request to our road-map and implement the same in one of our upcoming releases.

You can make use of the password reset listener feature, so that when the domain account password is changed in PMP the same can be update on the domain account configured under the CISCO resource. More information on Password reset listener is available here.

Feel free to write to us if you have any other questions.

Thanks & Regards,
Chris
