Hi,

Thanks for the forum post.
The current latest version is 8200 and vi patch is already bundled with the product from 8200 version. After upgrading to 8200, you have to follow the below mentioned steps for to enable the vi patch.
  • Stop the PMP service and edit the file named system_properties.conf present in PMP/conf directory using Wordpad.
  • Add the following line at the end of this file and save it.
  • ssh.noscroll=true
  • Save the file and start the PMP service.
  • Now, if you launch the SSH or telnet session the vi patch will be applied on it.

PMP 8.2.0 - Problem to add a new account on Resource

Hi team!

After the upgrade to PMP 8.2.0 if I try to add a new account on an existing Resource I receive the error attached.
But if I create a new resource with multiple accounts the error do not occurs.

Hi,

Thanks for the forum post and apologies for the inconvenience caused.
Please follow the below steps and send the debug logs to the email address mentioned in the signature.
  • Stop PMP service.
  • Rename the logs folder as Logs_old.
  • Start the service.
  • Navigate to Admin and change the log level to Debug.
  • Try to add account to an existing Resource couple of times.
Send the new logs folder for analysis. Also, please clear the browser cache and try to add the account once again, just to ensure it is not a browser issue.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

For troubleshooting purpose, please navigate to Admin -- General settings -- Security settings and un check the option Severity high and severity low and try to save the password policy.  Let us know how it goes.

We will also try to reproduce this issue in our test installation and update you on the status.

Multiple PMP front-ends with clustered SQL Server back-end

Hi,

We are planning on migrating our PMP database to a clustered Microsoft SQL server. We currently have two PMP application nodes, for high availability, using the stock postgresql database. Is it possible to have more than one PMP servers pointing to the same clustered MSSQL server database?

For us it is useful to have two front-ends, as it allows us to do maintenance on one node while the other handles the load. But I don't see on the documentation how this can be done if we use a SQL server cluster.

How to change DC without login to PMP?

PMP - Google Authenticator with old authenticator code

Hi,

I an trying PMP with Google Authenticator. It is very nice and easy to use for admin and users. Great job!

It will more better if user couldn't use old authenticator code to authen. Sample first time they use with authenticator code 035540 when 2 minute more they still can use that authenticator code to access console.

Is there a way to fix this problem?

Is the built-in admin account really limited to an 8-character password? It seems a bit strange that the software to which we might entrust the security of all our passwords would itself be limited to using a weak password.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the forum post.
This is configurable. Please navigate to Admin -- Users section and edit the "Admin" account to change the Password policy. Also, you can create your own custom policy under Admin -- Password Policies section and assign your custom strong policy to Admin account. Now navigate to Admin -- Change Password section in the UI to change the password of the default admin account.

That being said, we strongly recommend our customers to integrate PMP with AD and directly use your AD credentials for the authentication purpose. You can also delete the local admin account after you have your AD account added into PMP.

AS400 Password Verify & Reset not working after Upgrading to build 8102

Greeting ManageEngine,

We where running on build 7105 and recently upgraded to build 8102 for the security reasons.

Then, we realised that Password Verify operations are no longer working after the upgrade, for resource type IBM AS400. The operation returns the result "Password not in sync", even though with the same password stored in PMP you can manage to successfully login to the actual resource (telnet via Auto Logon Helper, or manually).

As for the Remote Password Reset operations for AS400, operations are failing and returning the following error message on the PMP console:

Remote host closed connection during handshake


Earlier, before the upgrade, these two funcionalities were working normally as expected. Please Help.

I shared the solution given by the team for this issue :

Delete all the cache files, delete cookies, history and temp files in the browser.
Refer this  link  for more information on clearing the cache files in IE 

For me it works.

PMP Service Stopped

Hello,

I'm having trouble where the PMP server keeps crashing/stopping.  Event viewer shows the following errors:

The Password Manager Pro service terminated with the following service-specific error: 
%%4294967295

And Also

The description for Event ID 0 from source PostgreSQL cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.


Everything was working fine until I had to reboot the server.  I've disabled UAC, I'm able to start the service from services menu or the taskbar icon, it runs for about 30 seconds before crashing.

Hi Tim,

Our apologies for the inconvenience caused.
Are you trying to start the service using the Tray Icon? Please navigate to the services console(services.msc) and try starting the Password Manager Pro service from there. If the issue still persists, you can try using the below steps.
  • Kill the postgres processes that are running in task manager.
  • Remove /Rename the <PMP-Home>/logs folder.
  • Navigate to services console. Right Click Password manager pro service and select properties.
  • Switch to the Logon Tab at the top. Change the Local system account to "This Account".
  • Supply a privilege account for the PMP service.
  • Then start the PMP service.
If it still fails to start, please zip and send the newly created logs folder to passwordmanagerpro-support@manageengine.com so that we can analyse the root cause and get back to you.

PMP AD sync requires two DC names to be entered but surely it would be better if it discovered this information automatically.  It's certainly not impossible to decom multiple DCs and then PMP would break although I thought that the user logon was not dependant on the sync schedule config or is it?

Can you confirm if the AD logon is dependent on the sync schedule config and also how to change the DCs set in the sync schedules without having to reconfigure all of the schedules.

Better still fix the issue where we have to manually tell you where the DCs are.  Its easy to use the DC locator service so why make us enter manual configurations that are bound to be forgotten at some point in the future.

Controlling the import of resources from AD

When adding Windows resources using PMP discovery it brings in all of the local user accounts.   There does not appear to be any way of controlling which accounts are imported.  It  imports the guest account which is disabled.  This means when we check the passwords are in sync this cannot be verified which means I get a failure audit point for every Windows resource in the system. 

Yes I can edit the resource once it's imported but then on the next sync the guest account is added back in!

Ideally only enabled accounts should be imported this would resolve this issue.


Can you confirm if there is a way of limiting which accounts are imported

or can you add an enhancement to the product to only import enabled local accounts.

By Firefox (version 40) In RDP AutoLogon I have this error:



I need change 2 parameter in about:config to open Autologon RDP without problems:

security.ssl3.dhe_rsa_aes_128_sha
security.ssl3.dhe_rsa_aes_256_sha

My PMP Version is 7600.
