HI Ram,

Thanks for the forum post.
For Agent less communication, PMP uses WMI and RPC for communicating with the other windows machines and to perform Reset/Verify functions. The Default ports for WMI are 135,139 and 445. By default, RPC uses ports in the ephemeral port range of 1024-5000, but it is customizable. If you use the steps mentioned in the below Microsoft document, you can configure the RPC ports to be ranged from 5001 to 5021. So you will only have to open 20 ports. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908472. So make sure that firewall ports are opened between the PMP server and the target machine. We don't have an option to change these ports are used by native windows protocols.

For agent less communication, we believe you are referring to the older documentation, where the agent communication was using port 5768. In PMP 6303 and below version, the communication between PMP server and agents was initiated by the server, which required the agents to keep a 5768 TCP port open.

From PMP 6400 and above version we have implemented One Way Agent. Where you do not have to open the Firewall ports at the target side, as PMP server will not directly communicate with the Agents. Instead, Agents will poll the server periodically. So, there is no need to keep any port open in the host where the agent has been installed.  More information about using one way agents is available here.

Feel free to write us if you have any other questions.

Thanks & Regards,
Chris
