Thanks for the post. We believe that you are referring to custom fields, where-in you have multiple values supplied in "Default Value" section. Therefore, the field gets rendered as a Drop down menu but it does not have one of the options selected by default. Would it be useful if we make the first value supplied to be the default value automatically chosen in the drop down menu? If this works for you, we will have our development team build a patch for you to address this issue.
But in our future release, we will have Two fields in the Custom Fields section. One to collect all values and another to choose a default value. This way, users will have the option to select any one value to be the default one. Look forward to hear from you.
