Password verification on a Linux

Hi. We are still on the evalution copy and I'm trying to see if it would would meet all of our requirements.

On our linux servers, I'm trying to configure the password verification/change for the root account.

I have a user with a ssh key set up between PMP a linux servevr but it does not work unless password is also sync.

root login is disabled. So I need a second account to check it.

Using the PKI wethod it doesn't work. SSHkey is good because I've put the sshd in debug on the target an I can see the login.
It's the bash script after that seems to be in problem.
